Why Steel?

An increasing number of Builders, Engineers and Architects are specifying steel in place of more traditional materials, such as timber.

This is because steel has the following properties that prove to be advantageous:

• Greater floor loadings can be achieved, up to 4 times that of more traditional materials.
• Steel is 20-35 times stiffer in deflection and therefore provides more rigidity.
• Steel has a much better strength to size ratio, thereby providing greater interior space.
• Steel can be proved by engineers with regards to loading and strength.
• Up to 60% of UK steel is made from recycled material.
